Student Support And Welfare Services

The Student Welfare Manager and staff are available to talk to students about any problems or concerns, whether relating to their education or general concern.

We have a strong support system to ensure that problems relating to cultural or other issues are solved quickly.

In addition to support and guidance from the staff members, students will also be given a comprehensive list of external support and counseling agencies.

We also ensure the following:

  • Induction programme at the beginning of courses
  • Qualified and enthusiastic teachers
  • Individual attention and guidance
  • Modern learning facilities
  • Small classes
  • Supportive and enjoyable learning environments
  • Employment support

Arrival Services
NCBT can arrange a pick-up service from Auckland Airport - Please indicate on the Application Form if you require the service.
This service includes:

  • A warm welcome and pick up at the Airport
  • Transportation to the student's accommodation
  • Briefing about all the essential services such as:

-public transport, emergency contact, food and shopping, international phone facilities, internet, medical services, geographical guidance (maps etc.) opening a bank account, tips on buying a car, and long term accommodation guidance.

Please confirm TWO WEEKS before your arrival date.

Student Complaints

Immigration

Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through the New Zealand Immigration Service, and can be viewed in their website at www.immigration.govt.nz.

Eligibility For Health Services
Most international students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, and can be viewed on their website at www.moh.govt.nz

Accident Insurance
The accident Compensation Corporation provides accident insurance for all New Zealand citizens, residents and temporary visitors to New Zealand, but you may still be liable for all other medical and related costs. Further information can be viewed on the ACC website at www.acc.co.nz.

Medical And Travel Insurance
It is mandatory for all international students studying in New Zealand to have appropriate medical and travel insurance. The course fees are inclusive of annual insurance premium. For more information please contact the Student Welfare Manager,  Jane Edwards.

Code
NCBT has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students, published by the Minister of Education. Copies of the Code are available on request from this institution or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website www.minedu.govt.nz/goto/international.
